Antenna Workshop: 10/15/20m Vertical Antenna Build – Oct. 14th at 10am

The Antenna Committee will hold a construction event on Saturday, October 14th at 10am at the W2ZQ station.  We will review basic antenna theory and then build, tune and test a 10/15/20m vertical antenna. A vertical antenna’s maximum gain is at a low take off angle and therefore a good DX antenna.

SUCCESSFUL W2ZQ MULTI-MODE “PARKS ON THE AIR” ACTIVATION PERFORMED ON JULY 8

On July 8, 2023 W2ZQ performed a successful “POTA” activation from park K-6432, Washington Crossing Historic Park in Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania.

At 8AM based on the weather forecast, it was decided to locate the activation at our Plan B “iffy weather” site which had the distinct advantage of shelter from possible rain!

DVRA Mobile Fox Hunt – August 5, 2023

It’s time to release the Fox!

DVRA will host another fun Mobile Fox Hunting Session.  Join Huntmaster Glen, NK1N, for this event Saturday, August 5 at 9:00am ET.  We will pursue guest foxes Rich, KD2CQ, and Bill, W2WZ.

Hunts are usually done by 12:00 noon.

W2ZQ MULTI-MODE PARKS ON THE AIR (POTA) ACTIVATION ON JULY 8

DVRA Members and Non-Member Guests: Come out and join us on Saturday morning, July 8 in Washington Crossing Historic Park in Washington Crossing, PA as W2ZQ plans to conduct a two-station multi-mode (Phone and FT8) Parks On The Air (POTA) activation. Weather permitting, we’ll set up in an open area in the park within 100’ of the Delaware Canal.

ARRL Digital Contest

The 2023 ARRL International Digital Contest is just over a week away, the June 3-4 weekend, from 2 PM local time on Saturday through 8 PM Sunday.

2023 Field Day

The DVRA will once again participate in the annual ARRL Field day.  The ARRL Field Day is the single most popular on-the-air event held annually in the US and Canada. 

On the fourth full weekend in June, thousands of radio amateurs gather with their clubs, groups or simply with friends to operate from remote locations.

DVRA awarded Grant from Amateur Radio Digital Communications

The Delaware Valley Radio Association (DVRA) is happy to announce that it has been awarded a grant from Amateur Radio Digital Communications (ARDC), a private foundation that supports and promotes amateur radio. The grant will allow DVRA to install a large 15-ft. (4.57 meter) dish antenna at its W2ZQ station.
