Attention members: CW Class to start on May 23rd

Registration for this year’s CW class is now open to all DVRA club members. There is no fee for this class and is one of the many benefits of being or becoming a DVRA club member. Class will begin Tuesday May 23rd at 7:00 PM via the Zoom conference application.

DVRA Antenna Committee Event – Field Day Antenna Construction held at DVRA

The DVRA antenna committee held an antenna workshop and construction event for members on Saturday, May 6th at 12 Noon at the DVRA

During this event Greg Mauro K3EA (k3ea.dx@gmail.com) discussed the design and then led the building, tuning and testing of a 10/15m coupled-resonator dipole to supplement our field day antennas.

DVRA Fox Hunt Report – April 15, 2023

April 15th brought threats of thunderstorms but none of them dared interrupt the re-scheduled first DVRA Fox Hunt of the 2023 season. Spirits were high among the eleven participants. That’s not a typo. Eleven people forming six teams started searching for the elusive fox under overcast skies but with pleasant 70 degree temperatures.

Fox Hunt Training Session – March 25, 2023 9am

Fox season is upon us!  The DVRA will host an Introduction and Training Session for those who desire to learn about the art and subtle science of radio direction finding, aka Fox Hunting.  This session will be conducted in person at the Shack and include a presentation that demystifies what it’s all about.

DVRA Mobile Fox Hunt – April 15, 2023

It’s time to release the Fox!

DVRA will host its first Mobile Fox Hunting Session of 2023.  Join Huntmaster Glen, NK1N, for this event Saturday, April 15 at 9:00am ET (rescheduled from April 1 due to inclement weather).  Hunts are usually done by 12:00 noon.

Spring Cleanup and Outdoor Painting at W2ZQ

The Annual Spring Clean Up at Club Station W2ZQ will occur on Saturday, April 8th . We will also be repainting the trim on the outside of the building, and we’ll need 6-8 volunteers.

The work will start at 9AM.

All members are encouraged to participate.

DVRA Annual QRP and Mobile Operating Day, and Swap Fest, held on April 22nd

The Delaware Valley Radio Association hosted the 4th annual QRP operating day on the grounds of the club station, W2ZQ on April 22nd from 10am to 2pm.  This event was opened to all local amateurs.  As in the past, we also held a Swap Fest.  ADDITIONALLY, we included Mobile operating to be part of this year’s event.

Another Successful Fox Hunt/Antenna Workshop

DVRA conducted a Fox Hunt Training / Antenna Workshop / Mini-Fox Hunt session the morning of Saturday, March 25th.  Fifteen were in attendance for NK1N’s Introduction to Fox Hunting aka Amateur Radio Direction Finding.

The Trenton Computer Fest is looking for Ham Radio vendors

The Trenton Computer Fest is going in person this year for the first time since 2019.  There is a large indoor area for vendors and exhibitors.

There has always been a good representation of Ham Radio vendors at the Fest.  And, once again, Ham Radio vendors are being encouraged to participate.
