Three hunters gathered at the Chapin School starting point to travel the highways and byways of Mercer County. Their goal: find the elusive fox (hidden transmitter) taunting them every minute with its relentless and monotonous repeating tone. The only way to stop it: find it (or let the battery run out…but what fun is that?).

All three hunters were new to the DVRA fox hunt mobile format so Huntmaster Glen, NK1N, gave a rundown of the rules, tips and some reminders regarding the event. Just over half an hour into the venture, Bob, N2LO rolled into the Mercer Meadows Trail Parking on Blackwell Road to find the familiar old red Jeep Cherokee with NK1N standing by. Bob was quickly followed by Tobi, AD2CD and then Daniel, KE2GSD. Congratulations to the freshman class of 2026. Everyone found the fox.
Thank you to everyone for coming out to support the DVRA Fox Hunting Program. Please join us for an upcoming fox hunt. The next DVRA Fox Hunt will use the highly popular IARU Style on-foot format. It will be held on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, 9:00am at Veterans Park in Hamilton.
