W2ZQ HF STATION – EQUIPMENT TRAINING and VHF/UHF DEMONSTRATION

On Saturday, June 14th, we will hold the second W2ZQ HF Station Equipment Training at 10am.

Sitting down in front of the W2ZQ station for the first time can be daunting – with the array of equipment, controls and antennas. Participants will learn how to operate and control the station with the focus being on the equipment: radios, antennas, amplifiers, tuners, computers, etc.

We will review station layout, antenna selection, turn-on sequence, tuning and the important controls and functions of the equipment.

Immediately following the HF equipment training we will hold a VHF/UHF Demo at 12PM. This event will be held just prior to the June VHF contest, which starts at 2PM. This guarantees activity as contest participants will be on the air getting ready for the contest.

In addition to using the 5 element, 6 meter beam, we will also have the use of horizontally polarized loops for the 2m and 432 MHz bands.

The intent is to expose members to a bit of VHF and UHF operating.   The station will be set up to operate on two bands simultaneously:  6 meters and either 2 meters or 432MHz.

Contact info@w2zq.com if you will be attending either event and with any questions.
