On Wednesday, March 9th, 2022, the Delaware Valley Radio Association monthly
meeting HELD VIA VIRTUAL WEB CONFERENCE will feature a presentation titled
“The World of Small Computers” by Mike Rauch, K2VPX.
With the invention of microprocessors, the design of electronics changed dramatically. Electronic based products are no longer a jungle of wires and discrete components. Today, many, if not most, electronic based products include a microprocessor. Wires and discrete components have been replaced by software/firmware.
In this talk, we will take a high-level look at what is available today to the electronics designer, both professional and hobbyist, to meet the needs for a computing element in a new electronic design.
Mike Rauch, K2VPX, has been an amateur radio operator since he was sixteen years old. This interest led him to study electronics and computer science in college, followed by careers in corporation data processing and telecommunications, an internet startup, and ending as a researcher in advanced telecommunications devices and protocols.
Since retirement, Mike has been busy with digital ham radio modes, 3D printing, cooking, travel and too many other interests to list.
