On Wednesday, November 8th, 2023, the Delaware Valley Radio Association’s monthly membership meeting featured an update on the new 4.57m dish antenna being installed on the grounds of W2ZQ.
In person monthly meetings are held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 W Upper Ferry Rd, Ewing Township, NJ 08628 (Driving Directions). For the convenience of our members, these meetings are also hosted on Zoom. Members will receive an email with instructions on how to join the Zoom teleconference. Members of the public are invited to request conference credentials by sending a message to webmaster@w2zq.com.
Last year, the DVRA placed 3rd in the worldwide (single band, multi-operator) ARRL EME contest using our 3m dish with 250w amp. This past year we have been working hard to upgrade our skills and our tools for future contests. We are currently building a new 4.57 meter dish antenna powered by a 1 kilowatt amplifier. The work is underway and we are about 75% complete. We plan to have the new dish completed for the 2nd contest weekend in November. Members recapped the entire project and the progress so far. Also discussed was the next steps in the project.
