Tom grew up in Basking Ridge, NJ and during High School became interested in radios. He first started out with crystal Scanners and also used CB Radios. He then joined the local First Aid Squad and became more interested in police radios.

Tom graduated from Kutztown State College with a BS in Criminal Justice in 1981. He worked for the Bernards Township Police Department for five years and then transferred to the Harvey Cedars Police Department on Long Beach Island.

In 1998, a course was being held at the Southern Regional High School Adult School to obtain a Technician License. Tom took the course, passed the test, and joined the Old Barney Amateur Radio Club. He participated in Field Day and worked all night making all types of contacts. At that point he was really hooked on the hobby. He worked his way up to Amateur Extra.

In 2016, Tom retired from the police department and decided to put more time back into amateur radio. He became the Trustee for the Ocean County ARES repeaters WA2RES and was also appointed as an Assistant EC for the Southern NJ Section. Later on he moved up to being the Section Emergency Coordinator for a year. Finally, in 2018 Tom became the Southern New Jersey Section Manager.

Tom enjoys working DX and doing some occasional contesting. He has remained active in Emergency Communications and enjoys learning about the new technology. Tom also enjoys using FT-8. He lives in Manahawkin, NJ with his wife and has four children.
